Spirit Empowered Mission

Luke 4:14-22

Cell Group Application Questions

We are commissioned by the Son and empowered by the Holy Spirit to carry on the Fathers business.

What are you about?

As an individual and as a cell?

What about your cell?

How do you feel about the brakes coming off?

What teaching do you need about:

the empowering of the Holy Spirit?

the releasing of the gifts for the building up of the body for the work of ministry?

What plans have you as a cell for mission?

How can we support each other? Consider cell and church.

Spend time praying for each other.

Can you please encourage people to listen to Sunday’s talk again.

LK 4:18 "The Spirit of the Lord is upon me,

    because he has anointed me

to bring good news to the poor.

He has sent me to proclaim release to the captives

and recovery of sight to the blind,

to let the oppressed go free,

LK 4:19 to proclaim the year of the Lord's favour."

Jesus called you and me to be about the Fathers business

Matt 28: 19 Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptising them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything that I have commanded you. And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age."

It’s not about going over there or supporting ex number of missionaries. It’s about being faithful where we are, not where we wish we were.

We are here because we are here and this is where God has placed each of us. Why because he is a missional God, a God who from the very depths of His being longs to reach out to missing and invite them to sit and eat with Him in His Kingdom

Jesus promised in Jn 14: 18 I will not leave you. I am with you as you go but go you must.

Paul in puts it like this Ro10: 13 For, "Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved."

RO 10:14 But how are they to call on one in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in one of whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear without someone to proclaim him? 15 And how are they to proclaim him unless they are sent?

2 Cor 5: 20 So we are ambassadors for Christ, since God is making his appeal through us; we entreat you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God. 21 For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.

Some South American pastors made a statement at the 1928 Lausanne Conference; an International conference of all church leaders. They said:

“The Christian community must chatter, discuss and proclaim the gospel; it must express the gospel in it’s life as the new society, in it’s sacrificial service to others as a genuine expression of God’s love, in a prophetic, exposing and opposing of all demonic forces that deny the Lord Ship of Christ and keep men & women less than fully human, in its pursuit of justice for all people, in its responsible and caring trusteeship of God’s creation and resources.“

(David Watson  “I believe in the church”)
